They say Winning is a habit and the Chargers definitely have learnt the art of winning. They look unstoppable after thrashing the super kings by 6 wickets. It was again a bright sunny day and Adam won the toss and elected to field as he was circumspect about the pitch as it was a new one. The decision payed immediate dividends with Patel gone for a duck caught down leg side of Edwards. In came Raina and he along with Hayden got the kings past the 50 in the 5th over but when it was looking good gilly brought about a clever bowling change in the form of Rohit sharma and he got rain caught of his own bowling. Hayden was going great guns on the other side. Dhoni and Hayden got the kings past 100 in 12th over but then came the moment. Ojha getting both Dhoni and Hayden in one over. That changed the momentum totally. Oram blasted 41 of 29 in the end to give chennai a respectable score of 165.Gilly for some strange reason didn’t let Ojha complete his quota of 4 overs and let him bowl only 2.Edwards was again brilliant.

They say opening partnership is crucial to any teams success and surely for chargers its turning out to be true. Set 166 to chase they got of to rollicking start. 60 runs in 4 overs..Quickest 50 of the IPL. Gilly was looking great for more when Dhoni brought on Raina and he got gilly for 44 in just 19 balls. Gibbs on the other side was playing sensible. Laxaman came and went. Then Rohit sharma and Gibbs got the Chargers past 100..After the start that they got 165 was never looking a difficult run chase though in the middle the chargers lost some wickets and they needed 8 runs per over in the last 3 overs but they did it with ease. The second match between KKR and Mumbai Indians was a one sided affair with the Mumbai Indians setting the highest target of this season 188.Sachin won the toss and decide to bat first and boy what followed was special to watch. It was Vintage Sachin and Jayasurya at his best. It was raining sixes at Port Elizabeth. If it was the chargers recording the fastest 50 of the IPL, Mumbai Indians went a step further when they got to 100 in just 9 overs. They were 111/0 in 10 overs and looked good for 200.Then the strategic time out which Sachin is against .Sachin finally got out for 68 of just 45 balls with 4 huge sixes. It was Shukla who got him. Then came the surprise. Harbhajan walked in. Maybe they wanted to continue the momentum and he did continue it for sometime with some lusty blows but one shot too many. He finally got out to Hodge then came the big one. Jayasurya got out to the same man Shukla who was having a dream spell. He finished with the best bowling figures for KKR 4 overs for 25 runs and 3 wickets. Mumbai Indians could only manage 75 runs in the last 10 and lost 6 wickets in the process.

The stats were not with KKR with the highest successful run chase on this ground being only 134 and it they started disastrously again with both their openers Gayle and Mccullum getting out cheaply. DADA and Hodge tried to string a partnership but the asking rate was getting close to 12 and in the process of getting some quick runs both perished. Then there was a procession of wickets falling every over and the innings finally folded up for 95 giving Mumbai Indians a superb victory. Shocking point to note was that last 6 wickets fell for 15 runs in 3 overs. Mallinga was again exceptional cleaning up the tail with his Yorkers. He was on Hatrick but Anureet singh didn’t come out to bat as he injured himself .He will be on a Hatrick in the next match though. With 3 wickets in this match he takes over the Purple Cap from RP on the basis of being more economical.ClickHere for the complete Scorecard
