Yes we finally know who will play whom in the semi finals and it took the last league match to decide that..What better can you ask for IPL this year.  The Royal Challengers are on a roll winning their 4th consecutive match and will definitely give some headache for Dhoni when they meet in the semi finals on Saturday. The Chargers on the other hand have lost 3 in a row and will definitely will be hoping that there is a change of fortune tomorrow for the all important semifinal match against the Table leaders Delhi..

It was an inconsequential game with all the 4 semifinalists being decided but Mumbai would definitely would have loved to win the game to end the IPL on a high. Sehwag won the toss and put Mumbai Indians in to bat. It was a bad start as Jayasurya got out for a golden Duck to Nannes who was replacing Mahroof in this game for Delhi. He again struck when he had Duminy edging one to the wicketkeeper . The young Ashraful finally got a chance to play but it was an auspicious start for him in IPL as he perished only after getting 2 of 10 deliveries. That brought Sachin and Rahane together who played sensibly and managed to get the score to 72 at the end of 10 overs. Strategic break for once didn’t turn things around for the fielding side as Mumbai Indians reached 100 in the 13th over. Sachin was looking good at 46 but got out as he missed a faster one from Bhatia and the ball crashed into the stumps. Nayar got out cheaply but Rahane was going great guns getting timely boundaries and 6’s. 56 runs came of the last 5 and Mumbai managed to get their second best score in this IPL…

Delhi have always been chasing low scores and with Veeru and Gauti in bad form it was interesting to see how they would go about chasing this score. Warner and Gautam got a great start with Warner being the aggressive partner. They reached 30 at the end of 3 overs but Kulkarni got him when he lost his bat but the ball flies to the extra cover and Ashraful catches a simple one. That brought Sehwag to the wicket. He had told in the last press conference that he is just one match away from getting back into form and sadly for Mumbai Indians it turned out to be today. He was striking the ball cleanly and looked the old Viru that we know.. Gambhir and Sehwag got Delhi to 94 at the end of 10 overs. Sachin felt the pressure and brought Jayasurya who gave away 11 runs but then the very next over Malinga got the prized wicket of Gambhir who tired to charge him and got out. Dilshan and Sehwag had a good partnership of 44 and then it was Harbhajan show. He got Dilshan and Sehwag of consecutive balls but AB kept the hat trick ball away. In his next over he got AB and Bhatia again of successive balls giving some hope to Mumbai but there was no pressure as the run rate required was well below 5. Karthik and Mishra ensured that Delhi got through without any more hiccups. ClickHere for the scorecard

Man of the Match: Sehwag

The second match was between Deccan Chargers Vs Royal Challengers. Kumble won the toss and decided to bat first. Kallis got out in the 2nd over for 5 when he played a superbly timed shot off his pads but it was directly headed to the fielder Suman who caught it. Then came the moment which changed the match. Manish Pandey edged one which flew to the third man and RP made a mess of it and the worst part was that it went for a 4. There have been many dropped catches this IPL but they have not cost the team much, will it be the same today??? Van der Merwe came to the wicket and he along with Pandey played so many shots but the score didn’t go anywhere as the ball always kept eluding the fielders but didn’t go to the boundary either. They ended with 64/2 in 10 overs. What we saw afterwards were just pure brilliance from the young man Manish Pandey who was reaping the benefits of the dropped catch. He was just awesome playing all the shots in the book. He got to his century in the 17th over. He is the first Indian to hit a century this IPL. Virat Kohli came in the end and blasted a few. The final over cost 23 runs which was bowled RP who must have been feeling gutted having dropped the catch of Pandey. They got 107 runs in the last 10 overs which meant the Chargers had to chase down 172 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chargers got off to a good start with Gibbs finally getting into some sort of form and Gilly for a change was not his usual self playing the supporter role for Gibbs. It was all Gibbs in the first 10 overs. They got 81 for the loss of Gilly’s wicket. Suman was dismissed softly of Kumble immediately after the Strategic break which brought Symonds onto the wicket. They got the score past 100 and just when it was looking comfortable the chargers again faltered. Gibbs and Symonds got out in quick succession. It was again left to Rohit Sharma if Chargers were to get through. 46 were needed of the last 4 overs but it was a bit too much and they ended the innings 13 runs short. ClickHere for the scorecard
