Deccan Chargers have this habit of making games so interesting for the viewers. If there was ever and award for the team which excites the users most it would be chargers for sure. They lost a game which should have been probably theirs but nevertheless but whose complaining ..The viewers aren’t who are being treated to such close matches. Kings 11 won the toss and surprisingly decided to field first when the pitch report suggested that the pitch would slow down as the game progresses. Roy was back for the chargers and smith had to sit out. It was a good start for the chargers but then Gilly again missed out when he tried a flick shot of Sreesanth and was caught by powar. Suman came in and was looking very aggressive from ball one trying to get as many as he can in the first 6 overs. Gibbs on the other side was slow and he got out for 13. Suman too got out right before the strategic break and Rohit sharma immediately after that. It left chargers with Symonds and venu at the crease. Symonds was not finding his timing initially and the chargers were going on at a slow rate and they had to get some big shots in if they were to be competitive. Symonds just provided that impetus and he was stroking the ball so well and it was hard to believe that he got out for a duck the other day against Pakistan. He reached his 50 in just 28 balls and Venu was giving him good company by playing some attractive strokes. A score of 150 was what chargers would have been hoping when they were 70/3 at half way mark but they got 18 more which meant Kings had to chase 169.

Kings 11 got of to a flier with 40 on the board of the first 4 overs. Gilly had enough of the fast bowlers and brought on Rohit sharma, the hatrick guy and what an over he bowled getting both the openers caught by Venugopal Rao. In came Yuvraj and Sangakarra. Both were stroking the ball well until another bowling change saw the kings lose both of them in one over right before the strategic break. At this point the kings needed 86 more with 6 wickets in hand. Jayawardne and Pathan steadied the innings and got the score past 100 when Pathan got out in the 15th over.It was getting tight but Jayawarnde hot 2 6’s to get the scoring rate down but he got run out . 17 were needed of the last 2. Bret lee got a flat six of Harris and that really messed it up for the chargers. 8 were needed of the last 6 and RP had the ball. A first ball 4 meant that they needed 4 of the last 5 which was going to be easy and they got to the target with 1 ball to spare. It was a game which should have gone the chargers way but as they say T20 is such a game where 1 over can change the fortunes of a team and today it was the Symonds only over which went for 20 runs which in the end proved to be the difference between a win and a loss. Man of the Match: Mahela Jayawardne

The second match was between the last year finalists – SuperKings Vs Royals.Warne won the toss and decided to bat first on the same pitch that the chargers played on and lost the match batting first. He was expecting a score of about 160 but what they got in the end was only 141. The start was bad with Naman Ojha going for a duck of the first over and that brought asnodkar in who played some exciting strokes before the wily Murali got him Lbw. Smith got out soon stumped of Murali. Wickets kept falling and runs were hard to come by. Warne’s cameo of 21 gave them a respectable score but by no winning score.

The Chennai innings got off  to an ok start with Murali Vijay striking Trivedi for a 6 in the 3rd over but he was adjudged lbw in the same over.Raina came in but he too got out trying for a big shot. Hayden the dangerman was still there and he al0ng with Badrinath got the score past 100 in the 16th over. There was an over in which warne had a very strong appeal against hayden but was given not out. Replays showed that hayden had gloved it to the wicketkeeper. That was a key moment in the match with 80 odd runs still needed of the last 10 overs and maybe if that was given it would have been a different story. The match was interestingly poised for a tight finish but a 20 run over of Harvard tilted the match in favour of the superkings. They won by 7 wickets and 10 balls to spare. Last year the Royals had beaten the superkings twice and this year it has been the exact reverse. Chennai now lead the points table with 13 points and behind them are Delhi with 12 points although Delhi have played 2 games less. Clickhere for the scorecard.
