It was one hell of a match between Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals. How many times do you see a team which is tottering at 3/3 go and win the match. Very rarely i would say and today was one of them. Set a modest 141 to chase the royals got of to the worst possible start that they could ever imagine. It all started with some weird running between the wickets. Greame smith hit on on the onside but for some strange reason Asnodkar didn’t react and the very next ball smith was caught at the third man by shoaib and then it was Asnodkar who got run out the very next ball and again he didn’t react to the partners call. RP got the debutant Nauman Ojha and the scoreboard read 3/3 after 2 and the surprising part was that all the 3 batsmen got out for Golden Ducks. But then came in Lee Carseldine, and in young Ravinder Jadeja’s company, the Queenslander added 51 runs in 7.1 overs for the fourth wicket to set the tone for the run chase. But yet again the strategic time out proved to be costly for the batting team with a clever bowling change from gilly. He tossed the ball to Venugopal Rao and he removed both the set batsmen in a span of 4 balls and again it was rebuilding time.
However, Shane Warne had other plans. Needing 74 off 54, he hoiked Rao over long on for a six and then rao dropped a straight forward chance which proved to be costly as he again hit him for a 6 bringing the run rate down. Ojha finally got Warne. Then walked in the dangerous pathan and he didn’t waste any time and blasted 2 sixes of shoaib’s over but then got out leaving 11 runs to get of the last 2 overs. It was an eventful penultimate over bowled by Dwayne smith who bowled a very tight over until the last ball when Rohit sharma’s dreadful fielding gave away a 4. Now only 2 were required of the last over but Edwards started off well with 2 dots and the third ball the batsmen ran for a bye .Even that was courtesy Edwards who didn’t catch the ball which could have ended Harvards stay at the wicket but it was not to be. The very next ball there was a chance for RP but he too missed the wicket and Rajasthan royals clinched a thriller. Being a Chargers fan it was disappointing to see them lose the way they did. But I must say they fought well but in the end fielding let them down.
Earlier, Gilchrist won the toss and got off to a flier with 27 in the first 3 but then yusuf struck removing Gibbs. But the chargers kept loosing wickets regularly and could only manage 141.Click here for the scorecard.

The second match took place between Super Kings and Daredevils at the wonderful wanderers. This was the first match being played here and the crowd turned up in huge number. Delhi won the toss and decided to field. SuperKings got off to a good start with both Hayden and Vijay hitting the ball sweetly but both of them got out in quick succession leaving Raina and Badrinath to do the repair work. Together they strung a partnership of 66 before Raina got out. They looked good for 180 but wickets kept falling regularly and they could manage only 160.
Daredevils had a new opening pair with Sehwag not playing this game and Gambhir taking over the captaincy. David Warner the T20 specialist replaced him .Gambhir’s poor form continued when he was brilliantly caught by Raina. AB got a beauty and he was clean bowled for a golden Duck. That brought warner and Dilashan together and they had a nice little partnership of 33 before Dilshan was castled by jakati. Karthik and Warner had a superb partnership of 73 before Warner was superbly stumped by Dhoni for a well made 50.But on the other side Karthik was stroking the ball well and he was the only hope if Delhi had to make a match out of this but he soon got out after making a 50 with Delhi needing 32 more from 20 balls and it proved too much in the end .The left arm spinner Jakati was the star with 4 wickets.
