It’s hard to imagine that a team which got the lowest score in IPL has now the highest score. Rajasthan Royals had everything going right except their batting till now and today even that department came good for the royals with Smith and the young Naman Ojha taking on the bowlers and for ensuring the first century stand of this IPL season. All the kings bowlers got it wrong as the pitch was more suited for short pitch stuff but they were bowling length. On one side we had smith who was hitting boundaries at will and on the other side we had ojha who was smacking the ball over the boundary and that too very consistently. The kings bowlers had no answer. Yuvraj tried all the bowlers but everyone was getting whacked and even Sreesanth who got a chance today didn’t do any good for his team. It took them 15 overs to dislodge the pair and the damage was done and it was going to get worse. Everyone who came in contributed handsomely to help the royals cross the 200 mark in the 19th over and they ended up with 211.
A score over 200 was never going to be easy to chance and especially after a start that the kings 11 had when they lost 2 in 1 over. They didn’t have any momentum going into the innings and wickets kept falling regularly. Only Yuvraj played his part with 48 of 36 balls and the kings 11 ended up with only 133 in their 20 overs losing to the royals by 78 runs.Clickhere for the scorecard
Man of the Match: Smith
The second match was between the daredevils and Knight riders and at last KKR has found a way to win a match. They won the toss and decided to put the score on the board. For the first time in the tournament they got off to a good start and Mccullum finally got going in the tournament with some lusty hits but couldn’t capitalize on the good start when he tried hitting one shot too many and was caught by nehra of sangwan for a well made 35 in 39 . Hodge their highest run getter didnt look good and motored along to get only 10 of 19 balls. On the other side there was wan WYK who was going great guns and reached his 2nd 50 of the IPL.KKR posted their highest total of the IPL 154.
Delhi got off to a great start with 50 on the board in 5 overs.Agarkar came in to bowl and yet again their fielding let them down. Gambhir top edged one which Mccullum could not hold on to which was so disappointing to see. But Agarkar got Warner to mishit one and this time there was no mistake from Henriques. Dilshan came in and he along with Gambhir scored at a decent rate. There was a second life for gambhir but this time it was courtesy bad umpiring..Gambhir edged one to the wicketkeeper but the umpire didn’t agree. At this point I would like to mention that the umpiring standards in this IPL have been very poor. Gambhir got to his 50 and helped the daredevils to chase down the target with ease. With this win they go to the top of the table with 5 wins in 7 matches.
