On the 26th of JAN when INDIA celebrated its 61st Republic Day I had written a post titled “ Phir mile sur – Mile Bollywood hamara ??” where I was (atleast sounded to be) critical of the fact that too much of Bollywood was a part of the Video and that not much screen space was given to the sportsmen and the defense forces. Today I was pleasantly surprised to see a video thanks to my friend Kiran.
The video is called JAI HIND which was released in 2008 and it has all the music maestros right from Pandit Jasraj, Javed Akhtar, Sonu Nigam to Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Yesudas, Shankar Mahadevan, Jagjit Singh and many others. The music has been composed by Grammy Award winner Ustad Zakir Hussain. Music truly has no religion, boundaries. It is a sound of unity and unique and it is very apt that they appear in a video for National integration.
Hockey, our National Game might have been given a miss in Phir Mile but not this video where every sport was represented by someone be it Dhanraj pillay for hockey or Baichung Bhutia for Football or Dravid and Kapil Dev for Cricket and last but not the least Narain karthikeyan. What I personally liked about the video was the fact that the video didn’t just limit itself to celebrity singers or sportsmen but common man like you and me were also involved in the making of this video. I feel JAI HIND is more of a balanced video whereas PHIR MILE is more of a visual treat. Have a look at the video below and please do share your views.
