Kings XI slump to their 4th loss in 5 games

shilpaIt was a clash between two teams placed at the bottom of the IPL standings and Rajasthan Royals came on top of Kings XI Punjab who were comprehensively beaten by 31 runs thanks to the and disciplined bowling effort from the Royals. By virtue of this win they jumped to joint 4th position whereas Kings XI is at the bottom having lost 4 of their 5 games. Though the margin of defeat indicates a dominating show by Rajasthan, Punjab had their chances but they didn’t take them.

Kings XI Innings

Chasing a stiff target of 184, Kings XI got off to a good start as Sangakkara looked in superb form as he sent the ball over the ropes quite regularly. Tait was smashed for 3 boundaries in one over but he got his revenge back when Sanagakkara hit one straight to the third man. Bisla got off to an explosive start hitting 3 4’s and a 6 in the first 6 balls he faced. Bisla hit some more lusty blows but he could not last long and finally got out to Warne who was earlier hit for 17 runs in his first over. Kings XI reached 102/2 in their 10 overs and looked comfortable to chase down 184. But the last 10 overs belonged to the Royals. Yuvraj, Bopara and Irfan got out in a space of 13 balls reducing Kings to 115/5 in 13. There was no looking back for the Royals once they broke the backbone of the Punjab team who didn’t even manage to play out their full quota of 20 overs. PHOTOS

Rajasthan Royals Innings
Rajasthan’s woes of losing too many wickets too soon came to an end as Lumb gave the Royals a good start. Though he lost Ojha early he continued to smash the bowlers and within no time reached 41 with 7 hits to the fence. Chawla struck in his first over when he foxed Lumb with a googly and Sangakkara did the rest. It was 87/2 at halfway mark. Yusuf made 28 of 19 before he got out trying to hit a long ball. With the danger man gone Kings XI could have restricted the royals to 160 but an explosive partnership between Voges and Fazal ensured that Royals posted 183 on the board. PHOTOS
