Delhi would have been floating in the clouds having won their last 4 games but just like an aircraft can only float in the sky until the fuel lasts, Daredevils were forced to land as they ran out of ammunition against Kolkata Knight riders. Maybe complacency cost them the game. First their bowlers could not stop the flow of runs giving away 181 and when it came to their batting they kept losing wickets regularly to give Kolkata a 14 run victory.

The Knight riders made a perfect start trying to defend a total of 181 when Dinda disturbed the timber of the dangerous Warner who departed for a DUCK. Despite the early loss the 2 delhites Sehwag and Gambhir carried the chase forward and were in complete control at 99/1 after 10.2 and Kolkata needed something magical if they were to come back in the game and it was none other than DADA himself who came up with a direct hit to run Gambhir out. Collingwood was done in by a googly from the mystery man Mendis. Sehwag looked brilliant in his 64 of 40 balls but he chopped one from Agarkar onto his stumps with Delhi still requiring 47 from last 5. However they only managed 32 runs as the Kolkata bowlers applied immense pressure in the last few overs chipping away wickets at crucial moments. PHOTOS

Earlier Ganguly won the toss and decided to bat first. He along with Gayle gave Kolkata a solid platform hitting 88 runs in the first 10 overs. It was surprising to see the Delhi bowlers not able to get the breakthrough. The slow bowlers who have been doing the job for Delhi were ineffective today and leaked runs. However both Gayle and Ganguly were removed in quick succession after which Mccullum too was runout. But that didn’t make much of a difference to the Knight riders as Mathews launched into the bowling attack to steer the team to a 181. PHOTOS
