Vijay and Bollinger star in Chennai’s win

Murali Vijay was in murderous mood, taking the Royals bowling to the cleaners.Temperatures were soaring at the city of Chennai but that didn’t stop Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals to produce an enthralling contest. The crowd was treated to a run feast on a sleeping beauty. The in-form batsmen Vijay came up with an outstanding century which was studded with 8 boundaries and 11 DLF Maximums to get Chennai to a record score of 246/5. The Rajasthan Royals gave a great chase to come so close thanks to Naman Ojha and Watson but Bollinger on debut was a star performer with the ball for the Super Kings to ensure that CSK got back to winning ways.

Rajasthan had their task cut-out after their bowlers were pulverized by Vijay at the top and Morkel in the latter half. The reply started off in a blazing fashion as Lumb accumulated 14 runs off the first over from Morkel. Bollinger made up for the big first over by giving away only 1 run. Despite the big first over the royals only managed 29 in the first 4.However the 5th over from Tyagi cost 18 runs and got the innings back on track. Morkel’s comeback proved to be a replay of his first over as he got smashed for 3 boundaries again. It was going nicely for the royals when Morkel got his revenge by dismissing Lumb for 37 in the 8th over. Then Bollinger pulled off a stunner to remove Pathan for 4. Ojha and Watson combined together to put on 95 runs in 42 balls to keep the Royals still in the hunt. Dhoni had to break the partnership and he went back to his star bowler Bollinger. Watson who was going all guns blazing was done in by a slow off cutter and had to head back to the dugout making 60 from only 25 balls. Ojha continued with his onslaught even as wickets kept falling on the other side. In the end the Royals fell short by 23 runs despite Ojha carrying his bat through to make 94. PHOTOS

Chennai Super Kings Innings

On a scorching Saturday afternoon, Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first on a belter of a wicket. Watson replaced Adam Voges in the Royals and Bollinger was in for thushara. Super Kings pressed their foot on the accelerator right from ball no 1 as Murali Vijay and Hayden took a heavy toll on the bowlers. Rajasthan got a brief respite when Hayden was dismissed for 34. Raina too departed without scoring much. Albie Morkel justified his promotion up the order with a 34 ball 62 runs innings. However he was overshadowed by Murali Vijay who was outstanding in his brilliant innings of 127 which came of only 56 balls. The duo put together IPL’s second biggest stand with 152 runs in just 11 overs. The bowlers were helpless as they were taken for 155 runs in the last 10 overs. PHOTOS
