Who says T20 is all about big score, raining sixes??? Even Low Scoring contests can be exciting ones as it turned out to be in the match between Rajasthan Royals and Kings 11 Punjab. The match started on time in Capetown which presented a completely different picture. It was bright sunny afternoon compared to the gloomy rainy day yesterday. Kings 11 won the toss and elected to bat. It was not bright thought for them with Karan goel getting run out without facing a ball. Bopara who was the man of the match last time failed this time getting out to Kamran khan who bowled a wonderful spell of 4 overs for just 15 runs and took 2 wickets. It was Sangakara’s 60 and Irfan’s 39 which got Kings 11 to 139 which was below par. It was a great to see the contest between the two Pathan brothers with Irfan getting better of his older bro.

Ojha Spins the Chargers to a Super Victory against Mumbai Indians

It was yet another super charged performance from the Deccan Chargers who came on top of the Mumbai Indians to register their 3rd consecutive victory. Apparently they had won only 2 matches last IPL and this time they have won 3 in 3..Deccan Chargers batted first and Gilchrist was at his best yet again smashing boundaries and they quickly raced to 50 in 6 overs. But just when it was looking all good for the chargers Gilchrist got out chasing a wide one from Bravo. Dwayne Smith who was in for styris came out to bat and started aggressively. He too got out after scoring 35 of just 22 balls and the score was 124/2 in 13 overs. 200 was well on the cards but what happened afterwards was t otally unbelievable. Deccan Chargers lost 7 wickets for just 43 runs in their last 7 overs and could only manage 168, the same score that royal challengers had posted for kings 11 had won it with ease. Top scorer Gibbs was run out for a feisty 58.

It was a super Thursday with both the matches going down the wire. First it was Delhi who clinched a high scoring thriller and then it was Royals who won a thriller via a super over, the first ever in IPL. First I would like to speak about the 2nd match ie between KKR and RR.

Its Chargers night at CapeTown again :)

Cape town is proving to be lucky for Deccan Chargers unlike Hyderabad where they lost all the matches. The good part is that they have one match chasing and another batting first. By virtue of yesterday’s win Deccan Chargers are sitting pretty at the top of the table. That’s why I have always thought that history might have some effect but what matters is how you play that day and chargers are surely at the top of their game.

Hayden, Murali come good for Chennai Super Kings

It is not often that a world class spinner who has the world record for the most number of wickets is left out of the team. Chennai Super kings didn’t make that blunder again and it paid immediate dividends and Murali picked up the man of the match award. It was one way traffic from ball one…Hayden showed that he has not lost one bit of his batting prowess despite retiring from international cricket. It was a blazing knock from him which set the Bangalore Royal challengers on the back foot and they couldn’t recover from it though they pulled it back a little bit.

CHARGERS off to a Winning start in IPL season 2

The day 2 of IPL turned out to be an exciting one for me as Deccan chargers stunned everyone with their performance, not me though as i always had faith in them..It was just that they didn’t gell well last year and were not sure of themselves but it looks like they have come out strong from last year when they finished last in the standings. If it was Bangalore royal challengers last night it was Deccan Chargers tonight. They looked liked a completely different outfit when they came out to field against Kolkata knight riders. A New Jersey, coach and support staff and the attitude of the players, the most important thing has worked wonders for the team. By the way the new outfit was matching the dark blue clouds. I love the outfit :)It was as if the Rain Gods too were happy not to interrupt the proceedings by not having more showers like what happened earlier in the day.

Team INDIA does it but is Dhoni the best Captain ever??

INDIA has created history in NZ by winning the series 1-0 and this being first series win after 41 long years and the only 13th series win overseas makes it even more cherishable. But India’s Wellington woes still remain. Its sad that it could not be 2-0 thanks to the weather gods and debatable captaincy from Dhoni but as soon as the match was abandoned and the test drawn congratulatory messages started pouring in. India is perhaps the only country where the president congratulates the team for their victory .This was no World Cup but India being such a cricket crazy nation it is bound to happen. BCCI didn’t waste any time and they announced a cash reward of 15 lakhs to each member of the winning team. Click here for the final day pics

South Africa to Host IPL season 2

A few days back Lalit Modi shocked the nation when he announced that IPL will be hosted outside India. England and South Africa were being looked into as possible venues and news just in is that South Africa will be hosting the IPL which i guess will be the biggest sporting tournament there after the last years T20 world cup..

Indian Premiere league stumped by Indian Political League..Goes International

After nearly a month long speculation about IPL as to whether it would be held in India or outside India and if in India then are all the states going to cooperate. Finally the speculations were put to rest on Sunday the 22nd of March just 20 days before the tournament gets underway.

It was ‘painful’ to shift the IPL from India but with their ‘hands tied’ they had no option except for relocating the tournament, said Lalit Modi, commissioner and chairman of the tournament. I don’t know if he really feels that way but that is what he told the press. As the news of IPL going abroad spread there was lot of angry reactions from length and breadth of the country and also from the Indian players having a well deserved rest in NZ after their victory.
