Mumbai Indians Zoomed to the top of the IPL Standings for the first time ever in IPL as they dismantled Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets keeping their unbeaten streak against KKR intact after five clashes. Mumbai Indians innings
Tournament favourites Delhi Daredevils crashed to a 98-run defeat at their home ground as Mumbai Indians put up a brilliant all round show. It was truly a clinical performance from the Mumbai Indians outfit first with their batsmen amassing 218 runs which is their highest score in IPL so far and then their bowlers finishing off the job with 3 overs to spare. It was disappointing to see a strong batting line up like Delhi which is capable of overhauling the biggest of targets come a cropper. Although it has to be said that Delhi didn’t have the resources of Gautam Gambhir who pulled up a hamstring early in the match but even if he had batted the result would have been the same but surely Delhi could have avoided such a huge defeat. With this thumping victory, Mumbai Indians jumped to the top of standings, while Delhi slipped to third, behind KKR.
“I’ve played cricket for 21 years and I have seen Sachin Tendulkar as the best batsman against whom I have played as he has murdered attacks and hit them all over the park. But today was the best innings I have ever seen,” No Guesses for who made that comment. Yes the spin wizard Shane Warne showering praise on his team mate Yusuf Pathan who almost won the game single handedly with his ferocious 37 ball 100 which also happens to be the fastest in IPL and 2nd fastest in the history of T20 cricket.
