Pollard Blitzkrieg crushes Delhi

PollardMatch 47: The explosive West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard finally lived up to the costliest tag with a swashbuckling 45 of 13 balls which destroyed all the good work that the Delhi bowlers had put before he came on to bat. Pollard, criticized for under performing so far, silenced his detractors who questioned his valuation with this amazing innings. The Daredevils started the chase in a blitzkrieg manner but with the big guns gone, Mumbai Indians took control of the match and finally ended up winning it by 39 runs. With this win Mumbai Indians have booked their berth in the semi finals and on the other side Delhi have to win the rest of their 2 matches to enter the semis.

Kings XI upset Mumbai to win their first game at home

Kumar Sangakkara led from the front with a fine half-century to power Punjab to a well deserved victory. The 2 teams which were going to clash tonight came into the match with very different intentions – Kings XI had no hope of making it to the semi finals and Mumbai Indians were just a win away from securing a berth in the semi final. However all that didn’t matter as Mumbai Indians didn’t have an answer to an inspired Kings XI unit who didn’t put a foot wrong in the entire match to snatch an easy victory and as a result have opened up the IPL standings. It is a pity that we had to wait so long to see Kings XI produce their best all-round performance of the tournament but on the brighter side they can spoil the party for some of the teams trying to guarantee a spot in the semi finals.

Mumbai too good for Chargers

Ambati Rayadu plays a shot.Mumbai Indians are on a roll as they registered their 7th win in 8 matches when they crushed the Deccan Chargers by 63 runs. Rayudu and Tiwary were the stars with the bat for the Mumbai team and ensured that they got to a big total of 178 which proved to be too much for the Chargers in the end. This is the 4th consecutive loss for the Chargers putting them in a position where they need to win 5 out of the 6 matches if the defending champions want to book a semifinal berth.

Harbhajan Singh in action during his smashing innings of 49 not out in just 18 balls. The nature of T20 is such that even 1 or 2 overs can change the fortune of a team and today there was only one man who stood in the way of Deccan Chargers from potentially topping the table. Bhaji, the Turbanator first came up trumps with the bat when he fired Mumbai Indians to a defendable total with a quickfire 49 from just 18 balls and then he needed only 2 balls to send back Gilchrist dealing a big blow to the Chargers chase and in the end Mumbai Indians won the match easily by 41 runs. As a result of this win the Indians are sitting pretty at the top of the table with 10 points from 6 games. Harbhajan sizzled with both bat and ball but that didn’t stop the match referee from handing out a $15000 fine for sledging.

Good times for the Challengers as Mumbai Indians are beaten all ends up

R Vinay Kumar sparked a Mumbai collapse as the home team stumbled. The challengers didn’t put a foot wrong in the double header on Saturday as they beat Mumbai Indians comprehensively by 7 wickets. Mumbai were on a roll having performed exceptionally well in their first 2 matches but all that didn’t matter today as it was RCB all the way. They notched up their 3rd straight win to zoom to the top of the points table. It took a disciplined bowling performance from the Bangalore boys to restrict the strong Mumbai batting order to a modest 151. Once that was done Kallis (66) took care of the rest as he continued his unbeaten streak in this season. It looks like he is going to have that orange cap around his head for some more matches as he has amassed 264 undefeated runs in his season.

Mumbai scores an impressive 98 run win over Delhi

Sachin TendulkarTournament favourites Delhi Daredevils crashed to a 98-run defeat at their home ground as Mumbai Indians put up a brilliant all round show. It was truly a clinical performance from the Mumbai Indians outfit first with their batsmen amassing 218 runs which is their highest score in IPL so far and then their bowlers finishing off the job with 3 overs to spare. It was disappointing to see a strong batting line up like Delhi which is capable of overhauling the biggest of targets come a cropper. Although it has to be said that Delhi didn’t have the resources of Gautam Gambhir who pulled up a hamstring early in the match but even if he had batted the result would have been the same but surely Delhi could have avoided such a huge defeat. With this thumping victory, Mumbai Indians jumped to the top of standings, while Delhi slipped to third, behind KKR.

Yusuf Blitzkrieg goes in Vain

Yusuf“I’ve played cricket for 21 years and I have seen Sachin Tendulkar as the best batsman against whom I have played as he has murdered attacks and hit them all over the park. Yes the spin wizard Shane Warne showering praise on his team mate Yusuf Pathan who almost won the game single handedly with his ferocious 37 ball 100 which also happens to be the fastest in IPL and 2nd fastest in the history of T20 cricket.
