MSD & Co. with the coveted Trophy

28 years is a long time for history to repeat itself but its been worth the wait as the Men in Blue lifted the coveted trophy to become the World Champions for the the 2nd time after Kapil Devils did it way back in 1983. For a nation so crazy about the game this is nothing short of 2nd independence if i might call it.

Dhoni who has been instrumental in leading the Men in Blue right from World T20 to attaining No 1 status in Tests and putting an end to a 28 year wait for the ultimate Trophy – World Cup . There was not much of partying for the Indian team because they had a photoshoot early on sunday and here are some of the shots.

Vijay and Bollinger star in Chennai’s win

Murali Vijay was in murderous mood, taking the Royals bowling to the cleaners.Temperatures were soaring at the city of Chennai but that didn’t stop Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals to produce an enthralling contest. The crowd was treated to a run feast on a sleeping beauty. The in-form batsmen Vijay came up with an outstanding century which was studded with 8 boundaries and 11 DLF Maximums to get Chennai to a record score of 246/5. The Rajasthan Royals gave a great chase to come so close thanks to Naman Ojha and Watson but Bollinger on debut was a star performer with the ball for the Super Kings to ensure that CSK got back to winning ways.

Cricket OSCARS : Indians take the top honours

dhoniWasim Akram might have termed his captaincy as listless in the ongoing Champions Trophy and his team might have been ousted from CT but there was happy news for MS Dhoni who was not only named the captain of the ODI and TEST team of the year but also won the ODI player award. However he could not be there to take the awards surprisingly (Maybe he was avoiding the media)
